Week 3252 Recap: Avert your eyes....

Well, back to the usual dreary reports. Three starters, no placings. Oh well.

Two first-time starters this week. One was SUBJUGATE (Lion Tamer x Secret Claim x Our Talisman). He finished 10th of 14. That said, he did outrun his 99-1 odds by beating anybody. The other, BANKED (Cherokee Run x Banker's Gold x Blushing John), went off at about 9-1 and beat one horse in a field of ten. Oh well.

On a slightly more positive note, REVERSE CHARGES (Phone Trick x Holy Bull x Shamgo), earned a career best speed figure running 5th in a $5k maiden claimer. She stalked the pace while wide, which gives me hope that she's moving in the right direction. Fingers crossed this improvement will stick around.

Two starters this coming weekend, both returning veterans.

Week 3245 Recap: We're in the money....

Second week back from a long layoff here. Had three starters, one of which managed to hit the board.

The success story was PEDAL POWER, a 4-year-old daughter of Stroll (Stroll x Homebuilder x Good Times). She ran second in $5k maiden claimer and earned a career best speed figure. Keeping my fingers crossed that she'll improve again and get that first win soon.

Also in action were the 4-year-old TURK EDWARDS (Albert The Great x Defensive Play x Mr Purple), who finished last behind PEDAL POWER, and 2-year-old first time starter THROWN (City Zip x Sunny's Halo x Fred Astaire). THROWN didn't show much, finishing 6th of 9, but maybe that had something to do with the sloppy track.

There will be three more runners next week as the stable continues to ramp up over the summer.

Week 3238 recap: Return to the trenches

Well, after over a year of absence, I'm back in the sim. Cleaned out the dead wood via the auction and sent out the first runner of the year. With fairly typical results.

The runner was a first-time starter, my two-year-old Suave filly, UNNERVING. She beat two horses in a 14-horse field. Thank gosh she's bred to be late-maturing (Suave x Diamond x Dancing Again) or I think I'd cry.

Purchased one horse out of the auction, an old homebred filly named PRIVATE PLANE (Fast Play x Lomond x Bustino). Paid an entire dollar for her. I hope to get a couple more wins out of her and then retire her to the broodmare band. If not, well, it's always nice to see old faces again.

I'll have three runners in this coming weekend, including another first-timer.
